They're very enjoyable, and hardly any work, plus you get to meet some interesting women.

Saturday, June 14th, the munch starts at 6:45pm at Shanghai China Restaurant on Mission Street, and breaks up about 8pm, when people walk over to the Citadel for the Primal party.

Ice Skate @ Embarcadero

Well I was hoping to plan for Dec 16th because that is just about the only weekend date I have free, but the Embercadero rink is closed that weekend. SO here are the options:
A) Someone else take over planning for a different weekend because I will most likely not be able to make it
B) We try to do it on a week day, and my week day schedules are getting booked up pretty quickly
C) maybe go in two groups? a weekend group and a weekday group?
D) Ice skate in oakland.

I am personally leaning towards a weekday, but I don't work a normal schedule, so people who work should tell me what time is best on a weekday.

Thanks for the munch!

I wanted to thank everyone who came to the womyn's munch before Primal last Friday.

There were 6 of us there, ranging in age from almost 20 to almost 60. None of us knew each other, but everyone was very friendly, and we shared stories about how we heard of Primal, how we heard of the munch (some from this Tribe, some from the Primal site), and previous experiences (if any) at Primal and at the Citadel. The food at Shanghai China was good, as always, and service was prompt.

I'd thrown some party clothes into a suitcase the night before and had come directly from work, so they offered me fashion advice. And one participant offered her body paint for communal use. And when we got to the Citadel they helped me dress. Who could ask for more? I lost track of everyone as the party progressed, but I hope everyone had a good time.

I think the munch served its purpose, introducing wimmin to each other so none of us felt alone at the party, and I'd be glad to host another one in the future. Thanks, everyone!

A whiles back -- I think last summer I had a brief "more about me" -- what kind of TV show, etc...I'm reviving it...so here it is!

Also I'd like anyone that answers the questions -- to add one question of their own they'd like everyone else to answer after their response -- so #6 will be a new question for the next gal to add (just to make it more interesting)

1) Beer or Wine? If Neither - Perregrino or Evian Water? If there's good beer around -- I'll drink the beer, otherwise any kind of red wine will do. I prefer the regular garden variety bottled water -- so I'd go with Evian -- don't like the carbonated stuff.

2) Do you prefer 2 piece/bikini or a one piece? I used to be a bikini kinda gal -- but now I can only wear one piece suits -- I wuv watching women wearing bikinis however.. hee hee...

3) Are you more of a CSI or a Law & Order kinda gal? If neither -- what's your favorite TV show? CSI -- but I watch Law & Order too.

What did you do for SF Pride???

I enjoyed a much subdued SF Gay Pride this year. Unfortunately Claudia & I had plans to be at a birthday party for Saturday night -- so we took several hours to check out the festival at Civic Center in Downtown On saturday. She unfortunately wasn't feeling well and once we got home -- we ended up not going to the birthday party either :( I liked checking out the festival when it's not uber crowded -- grabbed good information from booths -- especially about Domestic Partnership/civic unions (we're planning to do this soon).

We did make it back to SF in time for the parade on Sunday!!...This year neither of us brought cameras...but we enjoyed it just the same -- had lunch afterwards and then headed back to East Bay.

We didn't catch up with any friends this year (I usually do at some point)

day trip to Marin beaches and Fairfax hot tub place/sushi

Here's what I recall of the proposed day trip (no dates yet) from the thread that got deleted a few days ago:

-let's go have a picnic at one of the beaches in Pt Reyes- for those who have never gone, these are severe, 'go-watch-the-power-of-nature' kinds of beaches, not places full of teens and obnoxious beer-drinking loud people.

-I and Rio both have 8-person vans so we can probably go in one vehicle rather than carpooling

-the beaches (like McClures Beach, which is the only one I've been to) are about 1 1/2 hours from SF. One of the ways to get there is through San Rafael and then Fairfax, and then about 45 minutes of beautiful countryside that makes it a very relaxing drive

-if we go through Fairfax on the way there, there's a good health food store with a fantastic salad bar so you don't even have to cook your picnic foods and the store is 1/2 of the way to the beach from SF or the East Bay.

-On the way back, I propose a stop in Fairfax for ice cream at the organic homemade ice cream shop in Fairfax (the Fairfax Scoop)

-then, there's a hot tub place called Shibui Gardens in either Fairfax or neighboring San Anselmo, which was really cheap if you have more than 3 people (I can't remember the rate but it's somethign like a flat $17 if you have more than three). Its nice, lots of atmosphere, redwood walls with an open-to-the-sky ceiling (tubs are fiberglass if I remember right), and semi-privacy from the other tubs (each tub is enclosed by walls but maybe there's not a front wall- I can't recall.
Someone asked on Friday whether there's nude bathing possible and I'll ask and find out- I"m pretty sure that'd be a yes, it's a totally hippie-owned place that's existed for decades (now owned by the long-term employees) and I can't imagine them enforcing swim suits there.

-and then, in the next town down, in San Rafael, is a really good sushi place called Sushi to Dai For (not cheap but not too-too expensive) which has a back area that can accommodate 8 or so pretty easily. I didn't inquire as to reserving that back area but I'm sure it's possible.

I've been past that place a million times but I had no idea what it was! I don't know if it an African-American only sort of place or mostly a guy crowd or what but I signed up for their mailing list. Anyone ever been to the old Cabel's Reef and know what the scene is like? Might be some place to check out when they re-open.

Delicious and Martini Wednesday are both at The Cafe in the Castro off Market in San Francisco. Martini Wednesday's new, that should happen every Wednesday starting next week (not tonight)..

Delicious is usually the 3rd Saturday of every month -- also at The Cafe... Wet is another event that happens on the first Friday of every month -- that's not in San Francisco -- it's in Sunnyvale.

other 'activities' (classes, etc) coming up

I think I fall in the category looking for 'activity partners' as much as dates when it comes to this Tribe or whatever- I'm mostly looking to expand my social circle and try new things. Anyway, let's start a thread with listings of more events that might be of interest in this vein. I'm thinking this is different than just parties and shows or our own tribe gettogethers- classes is what specifically comes to mind- where you might not really get a chance to talk to the other Girls Who Wanna Meet Girls members during the event, but it's a good excuse for a gettogether.

So, do we want to start talking about another gettogether? Where would you like to do it, and what (or should we just plan one of the road trip outings being the next gettogether?)

I'd be interested in crossing over to SF for this, myself. I was only on here for two months so I"m not sure where the previous gettogethers have been held.

Any ideas?

road trip stuff update

At the Friday get-together, a few of us talked about going up to Orr Hot Springs. I think we'll hold off on making further decisions on it till Newbie feels better (see her blog for details).

Several of us are also interested in the other day trip- I'll start a separate topic for that.

New Moderator??..

Hiya Gals...

As you've noticed -- all of the threads have been deleted from this tribe...

I was wondering if anyone would like to moderate this tribe at least temporarily for the next several months...These are the conditions:

1) This tribe needs to be all inclusive - lesbian/Bi/Trans -- open to women that identify as women. Every request to join -- I actually check their profiles -- two things I check for:
2) Gender- Female & area they live in: SF Bay area
3) Want to organize small events around the SF Bay Area
4) Forward events/postings about what's going on in the Bay area for women that want to meet women.

I'm in a need of a long break. lately I've been losing good friends -- and no tribe's worth losing friends over....

It's time for new blood and maybe someone else that have more ideas - and time to organize this stuff..

Feel free to PM/Call me if you'd like to volunteer and I'll pass the hat onto you!...

I'll stay as moderator til middle of the week -- then this tribe will no longer be moderated..
